Apple iPod Nano Cost $72 to Produce
September 25th, 2006The new Nano is cheaper than ever to produce, costing Apple only $72 according to research firm. Research firm iSupply stripped down the new Apple Nano and estimated the 4GB model that retails for $199 cost about $72 to produce. This is $17 less than the first Nano model Apple introduced last year. Some of the components within the new Nano different, thus cheaper than before but the only part that increased was the new aluminun enclosure. The new Nanos are also using Samsung chips, a new partnership between Apple and Samsung. Before, Apple used flash memory from Toshiba and Hynix Semiconductor.
