Medialooks adds NewTek NDI support to MFormats SDK

CABSAT 2016, Dubai, United Arab Emirates - March 8, 2016 - Medialooks, maker of professional software development kits for the broadcast and digital signage markets, today announced an MFormats SDK version with support for NewTek’s Network Device Interface (NDI™) protocol, an open standard for live IP workflows over Ethernet networks.

NDI compatibility will provide customers using Medialooks' software frameworks with a natural way to make their products available to other NDI-enabled devices or software connected to a standard Ethernet local area network. "Being in touch with new technology is our responsibility as a development tools company," said Andrey Okunev, Medialooks CEO. "It feels good when you can offer a new technology to customers without a long development cycle: we appreciate the fact that NewTek is making NDI an open standard and provides a clear API to make use of it."

MFormats SDK provides C#, VB.NET, Delphi and C++ developers with a simple API to access dozens of video formats and integrate seamlessly with I/O solutions from Blackmagic Design, AJA, Bluefish, DELTACAST, Stream Labs and DekTec. With MFormats and NDI it is extremely easy to build a remote ingest solution running any of these capture devices. With the next official release NDI will be also brought to MPlatform SDK, the company's higher-level broadcast automation product.

NDI is a bi-directional standard for live production IP workflows, which allows multiple video systems to identify and communicate with one another over IP. NDI technology makes it possible to encode, transmit and receive multiple streams of high quality, low latency, frame-accurate video and audio in real-time. A large number of products from top manufacturers are already using NewTek’s open protocol for IP connectivity between devices.

“We are confident that IP workflows will revolutionize video production,” said Michael Kornet, executive vice president of Business Development for NewTek. “We are thrilled that Medialooks is enthusiastically embracing NDI for its customers which will help make NDI the most widely adopted IP standard on the market that’s working and in the hands of customers today.”

NDI is now available as a royalty free software developer kit (SDK) for any company looking to establish IP workflows within their organisation, or in production tools and systems they manufacture.
