Medialooks announces membership in the SRT Alliance

IBC2018, Amsterdam, Netherlands-September 14, 2018—Medialooks today announced that it has joined the SRT Alliance in order to provide customers with the most up-to-day video transport technology.

SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) is a relatively new protocol designed in partnership by Haivision and Wowza with the aim to deliver high-quality video at low latency over noisy networks (such as the public Internet). The SRT Alliance mentions on its web site that it now has over 125 members and that more than 30 companies are now shipping SRT Ready products.

The focus of SRT as a technology is low latency and protection agains jitter, packet loss and bandwidth fluctuation—meaning that better quality can be delivered via less bandwidth.

“To Medialooks, a middleware company focused on software development kits for the video industry, staying current with emerging technology, is extremely important,” says Andrey Okunev, CEO at Medialooks. “Many of our customers have built products that implement a classic contribution scenario—delivering a stream to a media server or CDN. SRT, if implemented well, is a potential replacement for RTMP which is often deployed in this use case.”

Medialooks will exhibit its software solutions at IBC2018 in Amsterdam at booth 3.B39.

About SRT

SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) is a freely available open source video transport protocol and technology stack that enables the delivery of high- quality and secure, low latency video across the public internet. SRT optimizes streaming performance across unpredictable networks with secure streams and easy firewall traversal, bringing the best quality live video over the worst networks. SRT accounts for packet loss, jitter, and fluctuating bandwidth, maintaining the integrity and quality of video.
