Multi-camera at-home video production with Medialooks Video Transport

We’ve released a new version of our Video Transport solution, which brings it another step closer to supporting true multi-camera at-home video production scenarios.

At-home video production, also known as remote video production, is an engineering approach that allows event producers to bring their costs down by sending less equipment and fewer personnel to the venue: the video production process takes place at a centralised studio, which makes the use of resources more efficient.

In this new version:

  • Multiple camera streams are automatically synchronised while they travel from a venue to the production studio.
  • Detailed statistics is now available about packet delivery—providing clear data about the quality of the connection.
  • Professional multichannel audio is now supported: previously a 16-channel audio stream would have been mixed into stereo.
  • Intel’s Quick Sync hardware encoding is supported—which makes it possible to run the software effectively on laptops that are not equipped with an Nvidia chip.

Meanwhile, real users are deploying the product in their video production scenarios. Here’s what our customer from a leading Dutch streaming company had to say:

We use the Video Transport application for remote production purposes. We had a video engineer in Rotterdam and remote locations in the Hague, Brussels and Amsterdam. We have reduced our production costs with this solution.

Stephen Wharton, CTO at SkyCam has explained in detail how they use the product:

We have been testing MediaLooks Video Transport as a network-agnostic, globally deployable quality control executive feed and NOC. By leveraging Video Transport, we were able to get reliable, high quality video and audio out of remote productions to verify system performance, and conformance anywhere in the world with just an Internet connection. While high quality transmission performance is available, we’ve found low Bandwidth options allow us to get low latency signals routed with as little as 2.5MB, even on the TURN server, which allows us to drop a node anywhere and view it on both portable and mobile devices.

Alexandar Tmusic, Head of IT at TV Arena Sport Group and also an old customer and friend:

We use Video Transport for a “live quiz” content delivery from a distant studio, which is about 20 km away from our Master Control Room. We’ve transmitted about 100 shows during 3 months, and we’ve never had a single issue with the transmission. Our bandwidth on both sides is about 300 MBit and we stream at 20 Mbit. What we love about this product is high picture quality and most importantly — minimal (less then 10 frames) latency crucial for a live interactive quiz show.

Finally, Charles Kerr from the Men’s and Women’s Ultimate Clubs at NC State University confirmed that our solution is indeed easy to use:

Medialooks NDI video transport system couldn’t be simpler to set up and the responsiveness of the the support team is first rate.
